A retrospective exhibition of local artist Barry Hinchliff's artwork - A Passion for Painting 1935 - 2021 - which has a particular focus on the vibrant landscapes of the Mediterranean, will be held at The Grange Gallery in Rottingdean from 5th March-1st May.
The first viewing on the 5th of March will be a private family viewing and from then on until the 1st of May it will be open for the public.
Barry Hinchliff, a much-respected and loved local artist, sadly died from Alzheimer's disease in August 2021 Aged 86.
He studied at Chelsea School of Art in 1950's and then taught art at Longhill Secondary School, Brighton for 30 years.
He was a member of The Society of Sussex Painters and ran The Grange Art Gallery in Rottingdean helping local artists exhibit.
Barry was a prolific painter of local and British landscapes in oil and water colour, in later years focusing on the South of France and The Mediterranean. He also produced many clay sculptures and designed and painted stage sets for Regency Opera Company.
This exhibition is the final celebration and sale of Barry's work, spanning nearly 70 years.
Entrance is free, all artwork will be sold at affordable prices, proceeds and donations will go to the Alzheimer's Society.
