Woodingdean, Telscombe, Rodmell: 16 mile guided walk with Friends of the South Downs

On Thursday 9th March 09:00 - 15:45 Friends of the South Downs is organising a 16 mile 'Peacehaven 1923 – The Story Begins' guided circular walk from the Norton Drive car park in Woodingdean out to Telscombe Tye, then to Rodmell and back to Woodingdean via the South Downs Way.

The organisers have quoted from an extract from the book: The Society of Sussex Downsmen: A Brief History by John O’Riley 2001, "In the Spring of 1923 two men, Captain Irvine Bately and his brother-in-law Mr. Thurston Hopkins, were walking from Brighton on the Downs and came to Peacehaven, which was in the course of development in a piece-meal fashion. The sight of this gave them cause for much concern, and they determined to see what might be done.’
